INTERACTIVE ART

As part of the St. Luke’s Children’s Pavilion, I developed a series of interactive elements designed to keep kids entertained while they wait to see a doctor. These elements needed to be stimulating without overwhelming the children. With the help of a small team, we created three low-energy play structures and three interactive maps that tie into the unique themes of each floor.

The play structures include a large Winnebago featuring hidden jokes, a set of nested mountains designed for children to hide in, and an expansive cave structure with hidden gems for a game of hide and seek.

I also designed three distinct interactive maps of Idaho. The camping and recreation map highlights various sports activities available throughout the state. Each area of this map incorporates small mirror boxes, creating engaging optical illusions.

For the floor dedicated to children with nervous disorders, I developed a low-stimulus topographical map that children can explore with through touch. Finally, on the largest floor stands a large interactive light-up map that displays animated videos about Idaho’s major rivers.
