WHAT IS FABRICATION?

Fabrication is the process of taking a design and turning it into a physical object. This can involve various techniques such as routing, painting, welding, powder coating, drilling, planing, staining, and any other physical processes that manipulate materials to achieve the desired result.

BALLAST AND FABRICATION

At Ballast, I work closely with a team of vetted subcontractors to create tangible designs. I personally weld and fabricate while overseeing the fabrication process collaborating with any required teams, discussing the desired outcome, creating renders, making paper patterns, and laying out detailed shop drawings.

For any physical project, I may engage 1 to 8 different subcontractors, from additional welders to concrete layers to powder-coaters.

This collaborative approach allows me to achieve a wide range of finishes and use various materials depending on the project. By personally making structures and overseeing teams of subcontractors, I can scale operations to meet the unique demands of each project. This ensures I never overextend myself and can deliver successful, affordable results.
